Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 7, 2026
This policy explains what information the Florida Septic Directory ("we", "us") collects through this website and our phone line, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. The site is an independent directory: we connect homeowners with septic companies and do not perform septic work ourselves.
Information you give us
- Quote requests. Your name, phone number, the service you need, your city (based on the page you were on) and any details you type in the message box.
- Contractor inquiries. If a business contacts us about a listing, we collect the business name, contact name, phone, email, service area and message.
Information collected automatically
- Usage events. We record clicks on phone numbers, contractor websites and quote buttons, with the page you were on and a random visit identifier kept in your browser's session storage. It is deleted when you close the tab.
- Tool use. When you use one of our tools, we record which tool was used, with the same page, visit identifier and approximate location. We do not record the answers or numbers you enter in a tool.
- Saved checklist. The septic inspection checklist saves your ticks in your own browser's local storage so you can come back to it on the same device. That data is not sent to us. You can clear it in your browser settings.
- Approximate location. Our hosting provider estimates your city, state and country from your IP address. We store that estimate with the usage events, not the IP address itself.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and operations.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers, and we do not build profiles of you across other websites.
How we use your information
- To pass your request to septic contractors who serve your area, so they can contact you about it.
- To follow up with you about your request.
- To answer contractors' questions about their listings.
- To run, secure and improve the site, for example by seeing which pages and listings people use.
- To comply with the law and protect our rights.
How we share it
- Contractors. When you request quotes, we share your name, phone number, city, service needed and message with septic contractors listed on this site who serve your area. Each contractor is an independent business, and its use of your information is governed by its own privacy practices.
- Service providers. Companies that run parts of the site for us: website hosting (Vercel), database hosting (Supabase) and form delivery by email (Formspree). They may use the information only to provide those services.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users, the public or us.
- Business changes. If the site is sold or transferred, the information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own advertising unrelated to your request.
Third-party services we use
These companies process information on our behalf to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Vercel hosts the website, keeps server logs and estimates approximate location from your IP address. Vercel privacy policy
- Supabase hosts our database, which stores quote requests and usage events. Supabase privacy policy
- Formspree receives quote requests and contractor inquiries submitted through our forms and delivers them to us by email. Formspree privacy policy
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising networks or social media tracking pixels. If we add a new service that collects information about visitors, we will list it here first.
Calls, texts and emails
When you submit a quote request, you agree that we and the septic companies listed in our directory that serve your area may call you about that request at the number you provide. Text messages and automated or prerecorded calls happen only if you tick the optional box on the form. Agreeing is not a condition of buying anything. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop texts from any sender by replying STOP, and you can ask a contractor or us at any time to stop contacting you.
How long we keep information
We keep quote requests, call records and inquiries for as long as we need them to handle your request and for our business records, and we delete them sooner when you ask, unless we must keep them by law. Usage events do not identify you by name.
Your choices
- Access, correction or deletion. Ask us to see, correct or delete information you submitted using the contact form. We may need to confirm it is you. We cannot delete copies a contractor already received; contact the contractor directly for those.
- Stop contact. Reply STOP to texts, or ask us or the contractor to stop calling or emailing.
- Browser storage. You can clear or block site storage in your browser settings. The site still works.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access-controlled databases, but no system is completely secure.
Children
This site is meant for homeowners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Links to other sites
Contractor websites and other sites we link to have their own privacy practices. This policy does not cover them.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date at the top when we do. Significant changes will apply only to information collected after the change.
